Background
Chongqing General Trading Group, a combination between Chongqing Traffic & Electrical Wholesale Company, Chongqing New Century Department Store and some other consortia which the above companies control the interest or participate stock. It was officially found on December 26,1996. The group and Huamao Company, which held eighteen percent of the shares in Chongqing Department Store Co., Ltd, recombined on April 5th, 2004. Now the group becomes the first business group of 10-billion income.

Size
By the end of 2003, the total assets CGTG amounted to RMB4.463 billion yuan; its sales totaled RMB11 billion. It has a workforce numbering over 27000. At present, it is the largest logistic industry group in the southwest. It ranked among 292th of China’s Top 500 Enterprises and 14th of China’s Top Business Retail Enterprises. Now it has Chongqing New Century Department Store Company, Chongqing Department Store Co., Ltd, Automobile Trading Co., Ltd, ChongQing Electric Co., Ltd, Chongqing Industrial Chemicals Co., Ltd, Zhongtian Hotel, Chongqing Zhongtian Real Estate Development Co., Ltd and so on. Chongqing Department Store Co., Ltd is a public company.
